Meet Cierra McIvor, an interview with our junior legal assistant

If money was no object, where in the world would you choose to live and why?

Even given the choice, I would actually prefer to stay in the area and close to my family. But if money was no object, I would enjoy a spacious acreage with a lot of land between myself and any potential neighbours. I thoroughly enjoy my privacy and very very loud music.

If you could eat only breakfast, lunch or supper for every meal each day, what would you choose and what would your meal consist of?

I’m not sure if it classifies as lunch or supper but I would happily eat Chicken Caesar Salad for every meal of the day for the rest of my life.

If you could have one superpower, what would it be and why?

Even with the potential cons, I would still choose the ability to read minds. It’s a subtle superpower that can easily be kept quiet, and I’m always curious as to what people are actually thinking.

When you’re not working, what is your favourite thing to do in your spare time?

I am a homebody to the core. If I’m not lounging around the house with my dog, we’re keeping it simple with spending time at the ball diamonds or visiting family.

What is your favourite holiday to celebrate and are there any odd traditions you follow during the holiday?

Thanksgiving. Besides being surrounded by food, my family participates in an annual game of Trivial Pursuit – men vs ladies. I have a very big and very competitive family so it is not quite as wholesome as it may sound. Feelings are not spared.

Meet Trista Sincennes, an interview with our senior legal assistant.

If you had to work at an amusement park or a famous landmark for the rest of your life, which place would you choose?

I would have to choose a famous landmark such as, any one of Alberta’s beautiful National Parks or, Queen Victoria Park in Niagara Falls.

What food could you not live without?

If coffee was considered a food, I would choose coffee. Since it’s more of a beverage, I would have to say that I could not live without a good bowl of homemade mac and cheese.

If you could live anywhere, where would you live and why?

I would live in a log cabin in the mountains with a fantastic view. One of my favourite ways to relax is to get out of the town/city and head out to the quiet solace of the mountains.

What is one thing you like to do in your spare time that might surprise people to know about you?

Each year I make a commitment to self teach myself one new thing during my spare time. This year, I am teaching myself to cross stitch.

If you could take a cruise anywhere, where would you go and why?

I would have to choose an Alaskan cruise. I have never been and I think the scenery would be amazing on a trip like that.

Meet Allison Shirlaw, an interview with our office manager

Out of all the places you’ve had the opportunity to live, where was your favourite and why?

Bristol, England.  I was young, living and working in the city, it is a very vibrant city with so much to see and do, shame the weather isn’t so great.

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

My meal would be sword fish steak with pepper sauce, spanish potatoes and sautéed vegetables, that is one thing I miss about living in Spain, the choice of sea food.

What are your hobbies outside of work?

My hobbies are dance, reading, puzzles, gardening and playing board games with my kids.

Aside from necessities, what is one thing you could not go a day without?

Music, I have always been surrounded by music my whole life I could never imagine life without it.

If you had to choose, would you rather be able to speak to animals or speak all foreign languages?

I would love to speak to animals, some times my dog looks at me and you can see she is thinking something and I would love to know what it was.

Meet Bradley Bullock, an interview with our lawyer.

When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

When I was a child, I wanted to be an optometrist. Unfortunately, that would not have worked out as I get a bit queasy when it comes to blood and medical related things.

What is your favourite thing about being a lawyer?

My favourite thing about being a lawyer is having so many opportunities to help people.

If you could live anywhere where would you live and why?

I like living in southern Alberta but if I had a choice, I would spend winters in a warmer climate area because I do not enjoy the cold weather.

What is something you like to do in your spare time?

In my spare time I enjoy building puzzles and playing board games. I also enjoy running and ran my first half marathon in October 2019.

What is your favourite sport to watch or play?

I do not play many sports unless you count running as a sport. My favourite sport to watch is Basketball.
